Texel 1930

Eric Ennion visited Texel in May 1930, for at least part of the time in the company of “Gibbs” and the printer, publisher and enthusiastic bird photographer Harry Savory. HS notes in his diary entry for 27th May, “Gibbs and Ennion went away”. Many of the studies Eric Ennion made there (some redrawn later) are reproduced in One Man’s Birds, including a Golden Oriole sketch on page 22 featuring the same nest as Harry Savory’s photographs.
